GALANTHUS WORONOWII BULBS
Galanthus Woronowii bulbs were established Circa 1893, this naturalizing award-winner has bright white, delicate flowers with a bit of green at the base of the inner petals and shiny green, recurved foliage. Bulb size: 6 cm/up. March/April. 5" to 8". HZ: 3-8.
They prefer moist humus-rich soil. Plant 8-10cm (3-4”) deep, 8-10cm (3-4”) apart. Plant in clumps 8cm (3”) deep in shade or semi-shade. Do not disturb until you want to split the clumps, which is best done when the foliage is still lush.
If planting in the garden, plant the bulbs about 8" apart. Space the groupings at least 3 feet apart. If planting in pots, plant 3 bulbs in a 10-14" 'patio type' pot using good-quality, multi-purpose compost.
Plant the bulbs with 4-6" of soil above them.
Fertilize in the spring with a well-balanced fertilizer when signs of growth appear. Keep the plants well watered during the growth period. It’s best to water at ground level to minimize fungal diseases and flower discoloration. Maintain a layer of mulch to keep the soil cool and maintain moisture, but keep the mulch away from the stems to prevent rot. Lilies prefer “their head in the sun and their feet in the shade.”
