We recommend a soil pH level of 6.5 - 6.8 for strawberry plants. We also recommend adding sand to our soil. Bare root strawberry plants need to have well draining soil. Add at least 30 percent and mix in with a rich compost type soil.

Portola Strawberry Plant bears fruit 12-14 weeks after planting.To double your fruit we would recommend pinching of the flowers. Every flower you pinch you will receive two flowers. You can produce a pint of strawberries per plant. Patience will pay huge rewards.
